If you’ve been to the Fitness Centre recently, you’ll have noticed some refurbishment work has been taking place in the gym.

This work has now been completed and the brand new Functional Training Zone is now open!

Functional training is a fun way to perform multi-joint exercises and engage a greater number of muscles, whilst conditioning the body to handle every-day tasks.

In this area, members can swing, balance and hang using a rig like structure and variety of attachments to perform pull-ups, weighted squats, suspension exercises, boxing or use the battle ropes in a fun and innovative way. The spacious rubber floor features a 10m track, which is perfect for sprints, walking exercises or sled runs.

Commenting on the launch of the new functional area, Mike Tietz, Fitness Centre manager, said:

“We are delighted to launch our Functional Training Zone, which will allow our members to get the most out of their workout and train with more variety.”

“Our functional zone will include a new rig with a number of exercise stations and attachments, including monkey bars, dip station, barbell station, punch bag, squat station, TRX suspension training, kettlebells and power bags – opening up a brand new way to workout.”
